Volunteer from Switzerland

Andrea Weibel, from Switzerland, or Pee Chompoo of children in Baannana volunteered to help children in shelter and to teach English in Baan San Khong school where primary students from Baannana go to study between March to April, 2010. Usually Pee Andrea creates and prepares many activities to do with children very well and today Pee Andrea teaches children to make bracelet from knitting wool. This will let children learn to be patient and to get their bracelet by their own effort. Small children of Baannana learn this from Pee Andrea eagerly and they like it vey much. Thank you very much Pee Andrea, we will miss you.

Thailand, our contry, is agricultural country so Childlife kids as Thais should have to know and follow their parents' way of life to be farmer. We realize that all kids in Childlife, wherever they are from or whoever they are, or whereever their original life is from, should learn how to be happy in simple life.

Nearly 2 year we never updated our blog because we did not have any staff to update.

A Fresh Start

The new year was taken by all as the perfect opportunity to brighten up the shelter. With paint brushes in hand, the children were set loose on the canteen area and once again demonstrated their immense skill.

A thirty foot mural included portrayals of a sunset over the mountains, and the somewhat less orthodox paintings of Winnie the Pooh and a Manchester United football badge!

A big thank you to the people of Newcastle in England who raised a huge amount of money for Childlife over the past couple of months. Judith and Alison showed that fund raising can be very simple when they held a number of second hand book sales with remarkable results.

With the new school year fast approaching, your money will go a long way toward the cost of school fees for the children of baan nana.

The Future of Film....

The kids are always keen to learn new skills and three of our older children have been given a fantastic opportunity to learn the art of film making. Adja, Gatin and Apaew were whisked off to Chiang Khong and taught the basic techniques of how to shoot a film. They had great fun experimenting with light, zoom, focus and all manner of camera angles. In the next few weeks they'll learn how to edit their footage - something they are all looking forward to.

Singing for Songkran

Songkran was also an opportunity to do some much needed fundraising for Childlife. The children belted out a number of Thai classics and the people of Mae-Sai responded by filling the donation box full of money.
