Thank you friends

We would like to thank our friends from Prajinburi Province who visited Childlife yesterday to donate some much needed medicine, food and other things to be used around the shelter. They also made a very kind monetary donation to Childlife.

This is the third time they have visited and donated to Childlife and we look forward to seeing them again in the future.

Blah Blah Blah...fish fish fish

This week Childlife has been draining the lake towards the back of the shelter to catch the fish they have been cultivating for almost a year. This agricultural project saw a few of the children responsible for feeding and looking after the growth of the fish. Many of the fish were sold to earn some money for the shelter.

Goodbye Keo

Last night Childlife said farewell to Keo, a Thai volunteer who has spent the past 4 weeks helping at the shelter.

Pee Keo spent a lot of time with the children and assisted with many projects.

Her smiling face and kind nature will be missed by all at Childlife.

From 19th - 21st April four of the older children from Childife attended the "Fun with English at Summer Camp" held in Chiang Saen. They joined almost 70 students from the district to spend 3 intensive days learning and practicing english though games, songs and role plays.

Fun at Childlife

Thanks to the Prom Vihan Rescue Division who came to Childlife on 19 April to host a day of activities, icecream and training for the children who didn’t go home for the holidays!

We learnt about the benefits of volunteering, how we can help people and love fellow human beings even though we don’t know them. They spoke about how every person can volunteer as it builds the spirit, gives confidence and happiness.

Training included first aid, games, ice cream, lunch along and the rescue team even brought their friends from Malaysia. We are looking forward to regular activities with this group and also the opportunity for some of us to go to a DJ camp! It will be a great opportunity for us to talk on the radio and learn new skills.

First Aid training at Childlife

On Thursday 18th April Mae Sai Hospital visited Childlife to give the staff and some of the older children some First Aid training.

During the day various areas were covered including:

Introduction to health
Safe sex, HIV/AIDs, STDs
Treating bites, cuts and injuries
Treating headaches and stomachs, fever and general sickness
Use of medicines for treatments

The children and staff found this day very useful and learnt many things to help at the shelter.

Goodbye Jean :(

Last night Childlife said farewell to Jean from France who spent the past 6 weeks volunteering at Childlife.

During his time at Childlife Jean infected the children and staff with lots of love and good positive energy. He brought alot of colour and life into the shelter making flags, dream catchers, painting signs, building bridges, working on the house on the island in the middle of the lake "Baan Glaang Nam Glaang Far" as well as spending alot of time getting to know and understand the children.

He also provided many highlights including falling in the river on a trek between Akha villages and flying past some hay bails, also on the same trip.

His big hugs, french accent and interesting hair will be sorely missed around the shelter.

Songkran Festival

The 12th - 16th April marks the time that Thailand celebrates its New Year with the Songkran Festival or "big water fight". The children at Childlife didn't miss this opportunity to join in the fun and headed into Mae Sai to be part of the action.
